About Oregon

Oregon, situated between Washington and California, extends from the Pacific Ocean, across the towering Cascade Mountains, through rain forests, deserts and lake regions, to its eastern boundaries of Idaho and Nevada.  Seven uniquely different regions comprise Oregon, and residents can experience nature in almost all of its different forms, without leaving their borders.  The capital of Oregon is Salem, while Portland and Eugene are the largest cities.  Oregon contained more than 3,400,000 residents, according to Census 2000

Oregon remains a land of unique and breath-taking beauty.  The Oregon Dunes National Park is a windswept land of enchanted, towering sand dunes, a rarity along Oregon’s rocky coastline. Snow-capped Mt. Bachelor and Mt. Hood, a dormant volcano, show a different view.  The Smith Rock State Park, a canyon comprised of eerie, twisted rock formations formed long ago by a once-raging river lures rock climbers year round.  The Hells Canyon National Recreation Area contains the deepest gorge in North America, and a wonderland for hikers, campers and climbers.
