One dead after a big rig crashes and shuts down 91 Freeway at Kraemer
Officials report a trapped vehicle underneath the 18-wheeler

"ANAHEIM – At least one person died Wednesday night after an 18-wheeler truck crashed and burst into flames on the east Riverside (91) Freeway, fire officials said.

The big rig jumped across to the westbound lanes, possibly trapping a vehicle underneath, fire officials said.

Both lanes of the freeway at North Kraemer Boulevard were shut down for an undetermined amount of time. Lanes were opened as cleanup progressed, with all lanes opened by about 2:30 this morning.

One person was flown from the scene and pronounced dead at Western Medical Center, fire authorities said. The victim's name was not immediately available.

Motorists called fire officials about 8 p.m. to report a fire on the highway.

Firefighters found a tractor-trailer fully engulfed and a vehicle underneath it, officials said.

At least one other vehicle was run off the freeway onto a road, CHP officials reported."
