Interstate 75: I-75 is the most popular route for any destination between the Great Lakes region and just about anywhere in Florida. The northern beginning of  I-75 is at Sault Ste. Marie at the Michigan/Canada border. The southern end terminates in Hialeah, Florida. Georgia’s 355 mile section of this Interstate takes in the cities of Atlanta, Dalton, Macon, Marietta and Valdosta. Beginning in the extreme north west corner of Georgia, I-75 comes over the Tennessee border at Chattanooga and interchanges with I-59 for traffic heading east or west.. It then makes a semi straight beeline south through Atlanta where it intersects in full interchanges with I-20 and I-85. Its just north of Atlanta that I-75 grows a north bound Spur Road, I-575 that serves rural Pickens County, Georgia where it dead end into local County Rte 5 and then breaks off onto local paved and unpaved byways. A few more miles ahead and I-75 meets the northern loop of I-285 and branches off south east and south west around Atlanta. Just south of Atlanta I-75 meets the southern part of this giant loop as I285 and I-75 interchange again just outside of Forrest Park, and Atlanta suburb. Accident on I-75?

Leaving Atlanta, I-75 meets its southern spur, I-675 before making a straight run to the city of Macon, Georgia. Just south of Macon where I-75 leaves its brief concurrency with I-16 around the north east portion of Macon and meets up with the southern portion of its own I-475 bypass that skirts Macon to the west. From this link-up just south of Macon, I-75 straightens up and makes a southerly path to the Florida stage line without passing any other cities of sizeable population with the possible exception of the Azalea City of Valdosta.
