Interstate
85: I-85 spans 668 miles of the southeastern United States From
Montgomery, Alabama to Petersburg, Virginia where it begins as a
westerly option to popular I-95. Interstate 85 has over 180 miles of its
total length across north central Georgia. It runs north from the
Southern Rivers region bordering on Alabama through metro Atlanta, and
into the Appalachian Mountains of South Carolina to South Carolina's
largest metropolitan areas. Driving through metro Atlanta Interstate 85
meets up with I- 75 and I-20 to form the famous Downtown Connector where
you'll experience some of America's most challenging driving (rivaling
even the Capitol Beltway in Washington DC).
I-85 has one spur road in Georgia, named I-985. It splits off to the
north from I-85 approximately 5 miles outside of the Atlanta
metropolitan area. Still called “365” by locals, it is also known as the
Lanier Parkway and route 23. |
