Log truck crashes on U.S. 70; one critically injured

"A tractor-trailer truck hauling logs reportedly ran a red light, crashed into traffic and overturned on U.S. 70 in Kinston on Tuesday, toppling logs onto the highway and crushing two cars.
That no one died in the collision was “nothing short of a miracle,” a Kinston police officer investigating the collision said.
Rescuers worked more than two hours clearing logs and sawing through debris to free Robert Kent Jackson, 81, and passenger James Jacobsen, 73, both of Nyion Court in New Bern, from their crushed Toyota. The most seriously injured of the wreck victims, Jackson was listed in critical condition at Pitt County Memorial Hospital late Tuesday. Jacobsen was treated at the Greenville hospital for minor injuries."
