Overnite Transportation provides regional, interregional, and long-distance less-than-truckload (LTL) freight hauling, primarily in the eastern half of the US. (LTL carriers consolidate freight from multiple shippers into a single truckload.) Overnite Transportation also provides full-truckload services and such value-added offerings as expedited delivery and trade show transportation services. Overnite Transportation operates from about 170 service centers; its fleet includes about 5,500 tractors, 145 straight trucks, and 18,500 trailers. Along with Motor Cargo Industries, Overnite Transportation is a subsidiary of Overnite Corporation (which is a subsidiary of United Parcel Service).
