stoves so rarely seen today. In 1896, Pittston lost fifty-nine of
its men in a mine tragedy, when a dreaded cave-in occurred.

degrees. Twelve golf courses grace the region, and Moon
Lake Park offers boating, fishing, camping and swimming in the warmer

and biking trails can be found in the County's eight beautiful parks.

offers the excitement of harness racing at Pocono
Downs. The Scranton
Pioneers football team and the Penguins
hockey team keep fans cheering. In the summer months, residents watch
their Red
Barons play baseball.
