COFFEE COUNTY
"One Manchester resident was killed and another seriously injured in a three-vehicle accident in Coffee County Friday night.
Robert Adams Sr., 69, died at the scene of the accident, which occurred shortly after 7 p.m. on U.S. 41 outside Manchester. A passenger in his car, Patricia Adams, also of Manchester, was injured in the crash and taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her age was not available at press time. She remained in Vanderbilt's trauma unit Saturday afternoon, hospital officials said.
According to Tennessee Highway Patrol reports, the vehicle they were riding in collided with a 1996 Ford Ranger traveling the opposite direction on U.S. 41 and was then hit by a tractor-trailer following the Ranger. The drivers of those vehicles were not seriously hurt in the crash, authorities said.
The Highway Patrol was still investigating the cause of the crash Saturday."
