Tractor punches hole in house
By Matthew Kemeny
"JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP — On his hands and knees,
firefighter Don Wallace crawled through more than four tons
of corn silage and hay, searching for any sign of life.
Mr. Wallace was filling potholes about 1 p.m. Tuesday when
he heard the call come over the radio — a trailer hauling
corn silage and hay had separated from its tractor on
Archbald Mountain Road, careened down a steep hill and
crashed through the front of a home at 974 Cortez Road.
“I wanted to make sure there were no people in there,” Mr.
Wallace said afterward, his sweatshirt and blue jeans
covered with corn dust and sweat.
There were no people inside, but he did find a sign of life.
A cat, Deena, was trapped and meowing for help."
