Talmadge bridge traffic re-routed after crash, fuel spill

"SAVANNAH -- An afternoon three-car crash has limited travel on the southbound lanes of the Talmadge Bridge into Savannah until 6:15 p.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police.

The inside southbound lane of the bridge was opened at around 5 p.m., but the outside lane remained closed. Both lanes were closed for more than two hours following the 2:30 p.m. wreck. Motorists traveling southbound on U.S. 17 into Savannah were rerouted through Port Wentworth.

Northbound lanes remain open but are moving slowly, said Anthony Fulton, a public-affairs officer for the police department. He advised travelers to use alternate routes."
